My Free Digital Journey - 1

Introduction: Leaving behind my banking career to explore new possibilities was a daunting decision for me. While leading a jobless life (read high on life!) after leaving my banking job and waiting to pursue my dreams, I decided to utilize my free time wisely, before finally getting an ESL job. However, my thirst for knowledge and the desire to embrace the digital world led me to embark on a transformative journey of online learning. All these months, I've looked for gaining skills which would enhance my profile in the next coming uncertain days (of free). That's how I start the story of my digital journey!

In this blog post, I will share my experiences and insights gained from completing the first five courses in my educational pursuit. Join me as I unravel the benefits of these courses and unveil the exciting future they hold!

Digital Marketing Course : As I said, 2022 has been a great challenging year for me which I have tackled with sheer professionalism so far. To continue this journey forward with more confidence and versatility, I have chosen to gear up my skills in different relevant digital fields, with various online free courses, first of which was The Fundamentals of Digital Marketing in May 2022 which is a popular Digital Marketing Course! The course served as my gateway into the expansive world of digital marketing. From understanding the core concepts of online advertising to exploring various marketing channels, this course laid a strong foundation. Through interactive modules and practical exercises, I learned about search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, content marketing and more. This

This comprehensive knowledge has empowered me to navigate the dynamic landscape of digital marketing and leverage it potential growth. There were 26 modules in total as far I remember followed by an exam, full of insights, after which you will be entitled with a valuable certificate from Google which looks like the picture below:

Google Analytics: Just after finishing the project, my relentless mind started exploring other fields and soon found the courses on Google Analytics. With a solid understanding of digital marketing principles, I delved into the realm of web analytics through relevant courses. It took me just 1 week each, to complete the beginner and advanced level courses followed by exams and certifications. The Beginner's course acquainted me with me fundamentals, including account setup, tracking website traffic and analyzing user behavior. Armed with this knowledge, I eagerly embarked on the Advanced Google Analytics course, which delved deeper into advanced tracking techniques, goal setup and e-commerce analytics. These courses not only sharpened my analytical skills but also allowed me to gain invaluable insights into website performance, user engagement and conversion optimization.

Skillshop: It was overwhelming at first to choose a suitable course to thrive for the future initially but I found the auto-suggestions of Google very helpful to choose my next few courses. One of which was in the same field of Analytics to brush up my skills more through Skillshop. To validate my expertise in Google Analytics, i took up the challenge of earning the free certification, Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ). This rigorous certification process tested my knowledge , analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.

Preparing for the exam involved revisiting key concepts, exploring real-world scenarios and mastering advanced features of Google Analytics. Recognizing the significance of search engine advertising, I pursued another very important course from Skillshop, Google Ads search certification, where you can learn and do experiments with google ads search keywords which will later help you with SEO & Youtube strategies to find google ads search partners later on. This course equipped me with the necessary skills to create and manage effective ad campaigns on Google's powerful advertising platform. From keyword research and ad creation to campaign optimization and performance tracking, I gained practical insights into running successful search engine marketing campaigns. This certification further solidified my digital marketing skill set and positioned me as a proficient Google Ads practitioner.

My Learning Journey and Future Benefits: Throughout this exhilarating learning journey, I encountered challenges and experienced personal growth. My TEFL Journey in a nutshell

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Almighty, in the last year (2021), I have passed the 198 hours Level 5 TEFL certification course (168 guided hours + Teaching English online 30 hours) from The TEFL Academy. For those, who might want to know, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) involves teaching English abroad or online where English is not the primary language. After having an ESL teacher certification or TEFL degree, educators can work for international and global schools, foreign companies, international organizations and associations, and internationally recognized universities, just to name a few. Introduction: I have been thinking about doing this since 2018, just after my Graduation from the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University (IBA, DU), Bangladesh, but could not really focus much as I got involved in corporate culture, after joining an event management company, namely Asiatic Experiential Marketing Limited. Later on, in May,2019, I joined a locally reputed bank, BRAC Bank where I continued to work for two and a half years. In the meantime, the overall lockdown phases during 2020 and 2021 finally came as a blessing among all those office workloads, few trips and some personal hassles which motivated me once again to work from home and pursue my dreams. This certificate is just like a passport to travel the world while I'll start working on attaining the visa i.e jobs abroad once it reopens. The Initial Journey: It all started in the April of 2021, when I finally decided to put all my efforts to pursue a potential career in teaching English as a Foreign Language. I invested some time and money to get enrolled in The TEFL Academy's Level 5 certification course, which provided me with 168 Hours of training and practical experience. Additionally, I completed the One-to-One teaching English Online certification, which gave me an extra 30 hours of training in this specialized area.

What did I learn?: Throughout my TEFL certification journey, I learned a great deal about teaching English as a foreign language. The Level 5 certification course covered a wide range of topics, including lesson planning, classroom management, grammar instruction and student assessment. The coursework was challenging, but I found it to be both engaging and informative. I was able to apply what I learned through practical assignments, such as creating lesson plans and teaching demo lessons to fellow students.

One of the highlights of the Level 5 TEFL certification course was the opportunity to observe experienced English teachers in action through their experience-sharing and stories. I was able to learn from their articles on teaching techniques and see how they managed their classrooms. This insight was invaluable in preparing me for my own teaching practice.

30 Hours Teaching English Online 1 to 1 certification

What happened afterwards?: After completing the Level 5 TEFL certification course within the time limit (usually 6 months which I completed in 2 months), I decided to pursue the One-to-One teaching English online certification just in the following week for free. The course focused specifically on teaching English to students through online platforms such as Skype or Zoom. i learned how to tailor my teaching methods to suit the needs of individual students and how to make the most of the unique advantages and challenges of online teaching.

How to get one?: Being a TEFL tutor is a great way to build transferable skills, like communication, creativity, adaptability, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership etc. It's been a tiring journey with lots of obstacles since I didn't know who to connect with for suggestions; specially anyone from my country. So, I had to look for international blogs, knock random people and gain idea on this. I would humbly request to expand my knowledge if anyone wants to know & explore this beautiful world together. Benefits now: Just after leaving the job of my previous organization, BRAC Bank, I got the opportunity to join a global platform within few months, named as "Native Camp" where my everyday work nowadays involves teaching and talking to people online, mostly from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam & Taiwan and I can't even explain how happy I am right now to have those sessions and exchange our thoughts with fun while doing so. I am also an avid learner and traveler with interest in knowing cultures and norms from all around the globe. I have worked for a very short time in this period with Lingua Roma, a global teaching company where I had to work with South Africans, Russians, French, Kenyans etc. Apart from that, while traveling in various parts of India and Thailand, I resided in the local hostels and houses to mingle with mixed races and know more about them. Conclusion: Overall, my journey as a TEFL-certified English teacher was both rewarding and challenging. I gained a deep appreciation for the art of teaching and learned a great deal about how to effectively teach English as a foreign language. In the future, I hope to use my TEFL certifications to carry on teaching English either abroad or online. I am grateful for the knowledge and experience I gained through The TEFL academy and look forwards to continuing my journey as a TEFL-certified English teacher.
